## Where a Sanity build usually goes wrong is the schema

Sanity hands you an empty Studio and a lot of freedom. That is the appeal, and it is also where most builds get into trouble. Teams model their content around whatever the first design looked like, and two redesigns later the schema is fighting them.

We spend the early part of a project on the content model instead of on layouts. Hopewell's home document runs to 95 fields, tied to communities, home types, models and sales centres across 16 content types. That structure is the reason the same content now feeds the website, a print-ready sales brochure, and the daily inventory feeds for Google and Meta ads.

Being a partner is useful for the unglamorous reason that when we hit an edge of the platform, we have a line to Sanity's team instead of a support form.

## What we actually do in Sanity

### Studio tooling, not just front ends

When the default editing experience does not fit the job, we extend it. Krown's team runs promos and blog content through plugins we built for them specifically.

### Component libraries editors will use

Brand rules live inside the components, so pages come out on brand no matter who assembles them. Hopewell's marketing team works from 70 documented section types. ERP-One's works from 27, each with its own variants and tones.

### Localization handled in the model

Krown runs fully bilingual across every page, URL and component, with the languages built into the content model rather than a translation overlay pasted on at the end.

### Catalogues and programmatic pages

When your content is a catalogue rather than a set of pages, Sanity handles it as data. Buyers filter Hopewell's homes by community, price, size and move-in date, and adding a record adds a page without a new build.

### Migrations onto Sanity

Redirect maps built before launch, then 404 and Search Console monitoring after it. Hopewell moved hundreds of homes off a legacy platform and organic traffic went up 20% in the first year.

### AI editing through Sanity's MCP server

Because the content is structured, tools like Claude can read your schema and write real drafts into your Studio. On builds we set that up for, a person still reviews and publishes.
