Help for Dementia is the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories' home for dementia learning and support. Over three years we rebranded it, rebuilt the learning platform from the ground up, and added an AI resource assistant and a resilience tool that meet people wherever they are.

The brief
The Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories had years of dementia education and resources, but it lived in an aging, custom-built platform that was hard to use and harder to maintain.
They came to us in 2023 to migrate it, and the work grew from there. We repositioned the brand, then rebuilt the entire ecosystem around the people who actually use it.
Care partners, people living with dementia, healthcare professionals, and community members each needed a clear path to the right resource, fast.

A name that says what it does
We started with strategy and brand. ASANT Café became Help for Dementia, a name that tells you exactly what you will find and who it is for.
The new identity carries the Alzheimer Society lineage forward with a warmer, clearer system: a friendly bloom mark, a calm blue palette, and the Assistant typeface chosen for easy reading.

An ecosystem, not a website
This was never just a set of courses. We designed and built the whole platform the team runs today.
- A bespoke LearnDash learning platform with 10+ courses, lessons, and progress tracking
- SCORM and H5P interactive content, plus PDFs, studies, videos, and webinars in one library
- Audience pathways for care partners, people with dementia, professionals, and community members
- A live events system with webinars wired straight into Zoom
- A custom registration and accounts layer with email verification and audience profiles

Then we made it lighter to run
A couple of years in, the Alzheimer Society brought us back to add a new course and give the platform a serious upgrade.
We moved the site off the Oxygen page builder and onto a modern Sage and ACF block setup. The team now builds pages directly in the WordPress editor with more than 60 custom blocks, no developer ticket required.
We optimized the whole thing for speed and for how AI search engines read it, trimmed the plugin stack, and cut their software costs by about 45% year over year. Page speed climbed by roughly the same.

Twenty years of knowledge, made answerable
We took more than twenty years of the Society's knowledge, over 500 PDFs along with reports and research, and vectorized all of it into a searchable format.
A custom AI assistant searches that library and answers logged-in users with real resources, drawn only from the Society's own material so the guidance stays grounded and safe.

A resilience tool you can feel
Dementia takes a quiet toll on the people around it. So we built Your Balance Check-In, a gentle, interactive way to weigh what is weighing on you.
People drag their sources of stress and sources of support onto a balance scale, rate their life skills, and get a personal reading that points them to the resources most likely to help right now.

Work that helps us sleep at night
We care most about work with a mission behind it, and the dementia space is about as real as it gets.
For someone newly diagnosed, or a family member trying to understand what comes next, Help for Dementia is a place to find footing. Being a steady part of that, year after year, means a lot to our team.
Still building, side by side.
We host it, maintain it, and keep improving it alongside the Alzheimer Society team. If you have a mission and a platform that needs a long-term partner, let's build it together.
