Modern infrastructure for BC's co-op housing sector

CHF BC's website had served them well, but it had grown dated and hard to change. We rebuilt it on a component system their own team can run, and built a live, Salesforce-connected Co-op Explorer that puts every housing co-op in the province on one map.

It started with a good partnership
We had already built CHF BC's sibling project, the Co-op Learning site, and that work went well. So when their primary website started to show its age, we were a natural choice to rebuild it.
The old site was solid for its time, but it had grown templated and hard to change. Every update meant a developer and a wait, which held the team back as the organization grew. It was simply time for infrastructure that could keep up.

A clearer place to start
We started with the experience. A simpler site map, cleaner navigation, and content trimmed back after years of growth, so members, boards, and future residents can all find what they need.
Better search runs underneath it all.
What we rebuilt
This was a full rebuild, made to last them years and grow with them:
- 500+ pages consolidated and migrated into a cleaner structure
- Around 35 reusable sections, each with its own variants
- Six content types, from co-ops to events to reports and FAQs
- User roles, so the right people can edit the right things
- The Co-op Explorer, a live directory of every housing co-op in BC
- A daily Salesforce sync that keeps every listing current on its own

A system their own team can run
The real win is what happens after launch. Every page is built from the same library of components, so the team can compose new pages with confidence and never break the design.
We onboarded their editors before the site went live and let them shape their own content, so day one felt familiar. With low plugin overhead and light maintenance, the site stays easy to run and easy to grow.

Every co-op in BC, on one map
The Co-op Explorer was its own commission, and a big leap over the old find-a-co-op tool. It talks directly to CHF BC's Salesforce database, so hundreds of co-ops and their stakeholders keep listings accurate at the source.
Visitors can search, filter by location and features, save favourites, and register interest, all on a live map of the province.
The numbers
A cleaner, faster foundation the whole sector can rely on.
- 287
- housing co-ops on one live, searchable map
- Daily
- Salesforce sync keeps every listing current
- 500+
- pages consolidated and migrated
- 35+
- reusable sections their team builds with
Launched, and still improving
The new site is live, and early feedback has been genuinely great, from the CHF BC team, their partners, and the public who simply find it easier to use and easier to navigate.
We are still alongside them, watching how the site performs and refining as we go, so the experience keeps getting better for co-op communities across BC.
Run a growing organization on aging infrastructure?
If your website has grown dated and every change means a developer and a wait, we can rebuild it into something modern that your own team can run. Let's talk.
