Paper Crane / partners / sanity
We build headless platforms on Next.js and Sanity: fast front ends, a Studio your marketers actually enjoy opening, and a content model built to outlast the design it launched with. On our newest builds, your team can update the site by talking to it.

A certified Sanity partner since 2022
We build on Sanity because it is the platform we would still pick for a client three years from now. Our first Sanity builds are still running, and we are still adding to them.
Most CMS decisions are made once and regretted for five years
The usual trade is a familiar one. Pick the platform your team knows and accept that every ambitious idea turns into a plugin hunt. Pick something custom and accept that nobody but a developer can touch it.
Sanity sidesteps that trade because content lives as structured data rather than as pages of formatted HTML. On Hopewell Residential, the same Sanity content generates the website, a print-ready sales brochure, and the daily inventory feeds for Google and Meta ads. When the design changes, the content survives.
What we build with it
A page builder your marketers trust
Brand rules live inside the components, so pages come out on brand no matter who builds them. Hopewell's team browses 70 documented section types; ERP-One's works from 27 components with their own variants and tones.
Content models designed before code
Schema is the part everyone skips and everyone pays for later. Hopewell's home document alone runs to 95 fields, tied to communities, home types, models and sales centres across 16 content types.
Catalogues, filters and search
When your content is a catalogue rather than a set of pages, Sanity handles it as data. Buyers filter by community, price, size, bedrooms and move-in date, and every filter is written to the URL so a search can be shared.
Programmatic pages at scale
One source of content can generate hundreds of pages. Location pages, dealer microsites, community pages, event listings. Adding a record adds a page, on brand and ready to rank, with no new build.
The integrations that make it a platform
Booking APIs, Salesforce and Pardot, ad platforms, inventory feeds, and analytics specified event by event rather than dropped in as a generic tag. A marketing site is rarely just a marketing site.
Custom Studio tooling
When the default editing experience does not fit the job, we extend it. Krown's team runs promos and blog content through plugins we built specifically for them.
Localization built in, not bolted on
Multilingual content handled in the content model rather than through a translation overlay pasted on at the end. Krown runs fully bilingual across every page, URL and component.
Migrations that keep your traffic
Hopewell's organic traffic grew 20% in the first year after a careful URL migration of hundreds of homes. Migration is the moment to fix the content model, not to replicate old mistakes.

A CMS your people and their AI tools can both work in
Sanity ships an MCP server, which means tools like Claude can read your schema, understand your components, and write real content into your own system rather than into a chat window you then copy and paste from. Structured content is what makes it possible, which is why AI editing works on a Sanity build and does not on most of the web.
The guardrail is the component library. The AI assembles pages from blocks we designed rather than generating new markup, so speed does not cost you the brand. Changes arrive as drafts, and a person still decides what publishes. For years, changing a website meant knowing how, or paying someone who did. That is starting to change, and we are building for it.
How we work
01 Model
We start with content, not layouts. Interviews with the people who will use the Studio every day, an audit of what you have, and a schema that fits the way you work.
02 Build
Component library, front end and Studio in parallel, with visual editing so editors see their changes in context. Sanity is a partner platform for us, so when we hit an edge we have a line to their team.
03 Launch properly
Redirect maps built before launch, then form testing, analytics verification, sitemap submission, and Search Console and 404 monitoring after. Migrations lose traffic when this part gets skipped. Hopewell gained traffic because it did not.
04 Hand over
Training for the people who will run it, documentation written for editors rather than developers, and a system you own outright. Code and content are yours, on infrastructure you control.
05 Keep building
Most of our Sanity clients keep going after launch, adding components, sections and integrations as the organization grows. That is the point of building it this way.
Questions we get asked
Do we own our site and content?
Yes, outright. The code and the content are yours, on infrastructure you control. No lock-in to us, and no proprietary platform renting your site back to you.
Is Sanity right for us, or should we stay on WordPress?
It depends on your team and your goals. Sanity is the strongest option when you need speed, structure, multiple channels or scale. Modern WordPress is a good fit when your team wants a familiar workflow. We help you choose honestly, and we build both.
We're on Webflow. Is moving worth it?
Often, and the tell is usually the ceiling rather than the looks. When your team is fighting the platform to ship ordinary changes, or what you want to build has nowhere to land, the move pays for itself. ERP-One's rebuild came in at a fifth of what a traditional Webflow to Sanity migration costs.
Can we really edit the site by talking to it?
On builds we set up for it, yes. Your team describes a change in plain language, and it arrives in Sanity as a draft assembled from your own components. A person still reviews and publishes.
Can our marketing team really build pages without us?
That is the point of the build. Component-first construction plus visual editing means new pages, campaigns and posts ship without a developer. Krown's team runs 40+ components on their own.
Will we lose search traffic in a migration?
Not if it's done properly. Redirect maps are built before launch, and we monitor 404s and Search Console after it, because that is where the damage shows up. Hopewell's organic traffic went up 20% in the year after moving hundreds of homes off a legacy platform.
What does Sanity cost?
Sanity is priced separately from our work, with a free tier that covers smaller sites and paid plans as usage grows. We size the right plan with you during scoping rather than surprising you at launch.
Where are you based?
Calgary and Vancouver. We work with clients across Canada and the United States.
